Sir,
Sub: Memorandum submitted by JIH.............................. in connection with the National Anti Imperialism campaign “Save the country from slavery and poverty”
Jamat – e – Islami Hind is conducting a national campaign against the capitalist imperialism titled “Save the country from slavery and poverty” from 11 – 2o Dec, 2009. JIH believes that the ill effects of capitalist imperialism and related policies are leading to poverty and slavery in the country. So we appeal the government to reconsider the anti-people capitalist policies and re-orient them in a way as to ensure the equitable and just growth
1. Govt. Of India should adopt an independent foreign policy upholding the sovereignty and freedom of the country rather than enslaving itself to the bigger powers of the world.
2. India should avoid financial dependence on IMF and World Bank. India should try to reform IMF and World Bank aiming the interest of poor and 3rd world countries.
3. The government of India should amend the relevant legislations to allow the Zero Interest Banking in India.
4. India should play a leading role in the Environmental Summits to pressurise the developed countries to minimise the release of green house gases and agree on time-bound targets for this.
5. SEZ Act should be modified to control the exploitation of labour, monopoly off industrialists and injustice to the displaced population.
6. FDI should not be allowed in strategic sectors like education and media. In other sectors also FDI should be controlled to safeguard the domestic industries, labour interests and other local interests.
7. Access to education should be ensured to poor students. Proper budgetary allocation should be provided to ensure the implementation of Right to Education.
8. Co Education should be discouraged. And facilities should be provided to girls students to pursue their education in a safe, ‘all-female’ environment.
9. Social morality should be included in the school syllabus.
10. Research priorities in Universities should be reformed in order to attain social goals.
11. Lottery and Gambling etc should be banned.
12. Future trading in commodities should be banned.
13. Polluting industries should be strictly punished.
14. Censoring of TV contents and films should be made strict in order to ensure the social health of the society.
15. Land acquisition act and proposed Rehabilitation acts should be amended ensuring that displacement is opted only as a last resort and for only those projects that are of great importance to public and adequate and timely compensation and rehabilitation is ensured to the displaced population.
16. More amounts should be spent in social sector. 6% and 3% of GDP should be spent in Education and health sectors respectively.
17. MNCs and corporate companies should be compelled to spend in social services and Corporate Social Responsibility is implemented with legal teeth.
18. The work places conditions for females should be improved and made safer.
19. Pornography should be strictly prohibited.
We request you to look into these matters seriously.
